Sometime after commencing Sabbath school work, upon the resignation of the superintendant, he was chosen for that office, and upon the death of his father in 1870 he was elected to fill the vacancy, both on the church trustee board and the circuit quarterly official board, which offices he held until 1892, when he decided to move to Manitoba."
