Since she was age 1 in the 1861 census, her birth year was calculated as circa 1860. The enumerator also noted that she was born in 1860.

Census:
She was enumerated as age 1, born in Canada, female, single, and a Wesleyan Methodist. She was living with her parents, Alexander and Mary Chapman in a one-a-half storey frame dwelling. Also living with them was John Graham, age 17, born in Ireland, male, single and an apprentice.

Bertha married Edward MAINS on 20 Mar 1878 in Hungerford Township, Hastings County, Ontario, Canada. Edward (son of David MAINS and Mrs. Mary MAINS) was born about 1849; and died. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
