He included a certification from John Howell, Clerk of the Peace, that said that he had taken the Oath of Allegiance. His petition was received June 6, 1798 and read in council on June 8, 1798. He was recommended for 200 acres with the warrant being issued on July 10, 1798.

Petition for land 16 Mar 1848 Picton, Prince Edward County, Canada West, Canada [10] for Concession 9 lot 16 in Murray Township - He petitioned to get the Patent for concession 9, lot 16 in Murray Township. He had been assigned this land as his father's heir at law and oldest son by the Heir and Devisee Commission in July 1840 in claim 349. Originally the lot had been awarded to his father John Trumpour in July 1797 as 200 acres of Family Land and 142 acres ungranted. However, neither John Senior or John Junior had made any improvements according to the inspection report of the local District Agent, so the Crown Land Department in Montreal decided that John should not get the land title. They were going to sell it to John B. McColl who had petitioned to buy the land.
