    Benjamin Garratt marriage c 1780. So far first child was born 1785, but could be one earlier. Marbletown Reformed Dutch Church (or Dutch Reformed?) was at Stone Ridge. FamilySearch has several films - I think most are transcriptions. Baptisms 1746-1944. Marriages 1796-1930. See sheet in "Garratt" family file folder.

    He "settled on land lying between that of the pioneer, [Daniel] Reynolds, and his brother Isaac".

    Occupation:
    They were "for some time unable to grow wheat and their staff of life consisted of rye bread, a staple food which seems to have palled on the taste of the family, especially of the children".

    "At this time salmon were so abundant in the lake, that fishermen could stand on the beach and spear them".

    Land:
    He paid Philip Dorland "seventy five pounds lawful money of the said province" for the land. The Bargain and Sale was not registered until March 2, 1826 at Picton. It became instrument #1074 in the copybook pages 56 and 57.
    The witnesses were Robert Hubbs, Betsey Dorland and Arnoldi Dorland.
    It was signed by Benjamin Garratt.
    The land registrar for the District of Prince Edward in 1826 was James Cotter.

    Religion:
    Benjamin Garrat and his wife Margaret were listed as members of the "AB" or Ameliasburgh Meeting of the West Lake Monthly Meeting.
