    "He bought four hundred acres of land, paying for it at the rate of twenty-five cents per acre, on the shore of Lake Ontario, near where the village of Wellington now stands." [Hillier Township, where most of the Village of Wellington was located, was not separated from Ameliasburgh Township until around 1826.]

    "Isaac had made a clearing and commenced building a house on the very spot where the home of John Garrett, his grandson, now stands."

    He "was obliged to return to his family in New York State". He "returned with his wife and six children".

    Since their house in Wellington had not been completed before the family all arrived, they lived with a neighbourly settler, Aaron White. The White's had a large family as well, but they all lived in a small cabin. The Garratt's seventh son was born at this time.

    He died 6th [?] month 17th 1841.
