    Emigration:
    At the age of 25, Mark emigrated from the west coast lowlands of Scotland in 1832.

    Immigration:
    Mark first located in St. Vincent Township. The area was first settled in 1824 by John Vail who arrived by boat, presumably by the canal system from the St. Lawrence. He brought a lot of people over in the 1830's after the land was surveyed. The first married was in 1837.

    Residence:
    Mark and Margaret had moved to Toronto by the time their first child was born.
