His last name was written as if it was spelled "Mayer" or "Mayes".

    The address was 28 Yonge Street. The numbering began at the "Bay" (lakeshore) with the even numbers on the east side of Yonge Street. [Was this his store or his home, or both?]

    The County Jail was situated at the foot of Berkeley Street at the Lake Shore. It was capable of accommodating 60 male prisoners, 25 female prisoners, and 15 debtors. The average number in prison was 75. The hours of admittance for visitors were from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
    The Chief Gaoler was John Kidd. The turnkeys were Henry May, James Boyan, and Samuel Beatty.

    Residence:
    This might not be the same 'Henry May'. Also living on the same lot is "George May".

    Family:
    Henry was probably the person who made the arrangements for the burial of his mother-in-law, Mary Henderson, to be buried in Potter's Field Cemetery, since she was described in the Potter's Field Cemetery records as "mother-in-law of Henry May".

    The house was owned by James Nunan.
