    He refused to sign "The Articles of the Association of Freeholders and Inhabitants of Ulster County, New York", and thus became a "Tory".

    He joined "the British cavalry, holding the rank of cornet. This is a rank which has since been abolished, but was the cavalry's equivalent to today's sub-lieutenant, the lowest grade of commissioned officer. The cornet was responsible for carrying the colours of his troop".

    Residence:
    He was with other Loyalist families.

    Emigration:
    They reached Quebec around October 1783.

    The family wintered in Sorel from October until May.

    A fleet of bateaux left for Upper Canada from Sorel.

    Paul was listed as "Ensign in Delancy's Loyalists, aged 48 years. Johnstown, retired in 1783."

    "Beginning in 1761, Johannes was involved in a legal fight with the city of Kingston, New York. Johannes and another man petitioned the governor for a grant of 2000 acres of land, as recompense for running the line between Albany and Ulster Counties. A few months later, the Corporation of Kingston, for some reason, filed a complaint against the grant. The two men answered it, and in return, the Corporation of Kingston filed a new petition. However, it does appear that they got the grant, for Johannes is later reported as owning lands in the area for which he was petitioning."

    Mark Trumpour received a letter from Mr. Charles Price of Pennsylvania about the origin of the Trumpour's. "Mr. Charles Price had received a letter from one Dr. Fritz Braun in Germany concening my letter. Apparently, this man's wife is a Trumbauer, and Mr. Price has done extensive digging around to find out where the family came from To date he had found no family on record in Germany with the name Trumbauer, so he believes that Switzerland many have been their homeland."

    The "London Lists" record Niclas Trombauer aged 33, his wife, a son aged 6, a daughter age 3, and a daughter 3/4 of a year old. He was a Roman Catholic, a husbandman and vinedresser. He was in the first seriese of arrivals in England.

    Immigration:
    He was listed in the first arrivals at London as "Niclas Trombauer, age 33, with his wife, a son aged 6, daughters aged 3 and 3/4, Catholic, husbandman and vinedresser".

    Religion:
    He was listed as a Roman Catholic. However, the British stipulated that all become Protestants.

    Emigration:
    About "13,000 Palatines moved down the Rhine to Rotterdam". From there, they "were embarked for London in six groups.

    Place:
    An entry on the "Board of Trade List" which recorded the First Party of Palatines in London, on May 3, 1709 included "Trumbauer, Niclas - wife, one son, two daughters".

    Immigration:
    "Niclaus Trombauer, with his wife, son, and two daughters, was in the first group of 852, arriving in London on May 3, 1709".

    Residence:
    This village was set up for the Palatines, so that they could make tar for the navy. However, this scheme did not work out. There was hardship and discontent among the Palatines.

    Emigration:
    About 3,000 out of the 13,000 left "in crowded ships with inadequate food".

    Immigration:
    The last ship arrived in New York in August 1710. Some Palatines went to North Carolina and some went to Pennsylvania. Many went to New York.

    The "Hunter List" of this date recorded 2 persons over 10 years of age and 3 persons under 10 years of age for the family of Niclaus Drumbaur.
